Greg's Wish - Whale Watching

Greg had Stage 4 Colon Cancer. His fight with cancer began on the 22 of April 2013, when he went for a routine colonoscopy and was told that he had only 6 to 10 months left, if he was lucky! He had no symptoms that he was even ill. Greg and his wife Susan, were told that the primary tumour was in the sigmoid colon and was quite large and the cancer had spread to his liver, kidneys and adrenal glands.

Susan nominated Greg to do something he had always wanted to do.. Whale watch! Greg and Susan set off to Hervey Bay on 1 August and stayed at the wonderful Oceans Resort & Spa for 3 nights, where they both relaxed and enjoyed the scenery. The staff at Oceans Resort were incredible and were more than happy to do all they could to make Greg and Susan’s stay a wonderful one.

For Greg’s wish, both he and Susan were guests on Freedom Whale Watch Fishing and Dive Charters where they got to experience whale watching up close and at its best. Greg and Susan were provided with transfers, morning & afternoon tea as well as a wonderful tropical buffet lunch. Freedom Whale Watch and Fishing and Dive Charters were outstanding in their compassion and care for Greg - we thank them for their kind attention.

We received the following message from Susan: “We had a wonderful time the people at the resort really looked after us and the skipper of the boat was so attentive to us also. Thank you for such a wonderful gift. Greg had a smile from ear to ear. We saw lots of whales. It was so nice to forget that he is not going to be with me for much longer. Greg continues to amaze the Drs that he is still here. However he is getting weaker as he continues to fight this horrible disease. All our love Greg and Sue."

We are so glad that we could provide Greg and Susan with this experience of a life time. We wish them many more magical experiences to come.

RIP Greg 16 February 1961 - 6 March 2015
