Rosie's Wish - To Recreate Graceland
We were contacted by Janine, who wanting something special for her friend Rosie, who had terminal secondary Liver Cancer. Rosie loved Graceland and all things Elvis. We were trying to bring Graceland to her by way of having an Elvis impersonator come out and perform for Rosie, but unfortunately her illness caught up with her.
On Friday 22 November 2013, we set about in doing a few things to help Rosie smile. No.1 was to play Elvis in the background for her, No.2 The Orange Pigeon sent her 48 beautiful stems of her favvourite gerbera flowers, reflecting 48 wonderful years of life, 11 of these were a different colour rflecting the special years she had with her son Chris.
Rosie was a single mother to Chris, so we wanted to do something nice for Chris too and give him something to look forward to. To help Chris through this very sad time we contacted the Red's Rugby Team, who he just loves, to see if something special could be put together for him. The speed in which the Red's, in particular Shannon, responded was just incredible and shows the true essence of the people who work behind the scenes there.
They, without hesitation organised a merchandise package and tickets for Chris to see a game next year. Giving him something to look forward to. Sometimes small comforts are very important in times like this, and for Rosie to see her son so happy with his special delivery is magical for her and what they both needed.
Thank you to the Red's Rugby Team for your immediate kindness and response and to Sharon from Aspley Florist who not only offered to collect items for us to put in a hamper for us, but helped all she could today in ensuring items would get delivered to the family. Light and love to Rosie and Chris at this very difficult time.
Janine contacted The Orange Pigeon on 25 November with the following message:
"Hi Jenny. Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers.... They made Rosie smile and gave her a wow moment .. Heaven opened its gates to her last night, she is now flying with the angels. Chris also received his reds pack and has a game look forward to Xx Janine"
Sometimes it's the smallest comforts that bring the biggest ray of sunshine to someone's life.
