Shane's Wish - To attend the Boxing Day Cricket Match

An amazing experience happened for our wish recipient Shane from Canberra, who is a big fan of cricket and was nominated by Able Australia for a wish to be at the Boxing Day Match in Melbourne on 26 December 2013.

Shane and his carer Sam arrived in Melbourne on Christmas Day for an amazing four day experience. We were lucky enough to connect with The Shane Warne Foundation and Cricket Australia to receive some fabulous tickets to The Shane Warne Boxing Day Extravaganza where Shane met current and previous players, was entertained by some incredible singers and mingled with other celebrities including Shane Warne himself. Shane and Sam were treated to breakfast, lunch and tour of the MCG and also had 2 premium seats for Day 1 and 3 matches.

Shane was a Federal Police officer Shane was a Federal Police Officer for many years and also did a lot of volunteer work. In 2008 he suffered a acute rupture of a cerebral aneurysm causing him to have an acquired brain injury and can no longer walk. He now lives in a supported environment and has had to give up his employment and independence. We were hoping this experience will bring a bit of light to him, helping to lift his spirits and giving him something amazing to always remember. We hope you have the time of your life Shane.for many years and also did a lot of volunteer work.
