Thelma was nominated by her son's best friend Travis. Travis completely adored Thelma and wanted to have something nice in her life.
Thelma had Terminal Pancreatic cancer and was in her final weeks when Travis contacted us. He told us that Thelma was a lifelong fan of the AFL team Collingwood and even to have something signed from them would make her day.
Collingwood Football Club went one better. Not only did they send a card to Thelma with signatures from players including Heath Shaw, Harry O'Brien, Luke Ball and Scott Pendlebury, Nathan Buckley filmed a personal message to Thelma which she saw only one hour prior to her passing on Saturday 27 July 2013. Travis said the smile on Thelma's face was the first they had seen for a few days and it's a moment that is very special to him and Thelma's family.
Our thanks goes to Collingwood Football Club and Nathan Buckley, without their immediate reaction and response Thelma would not have had this special comfort prior to her passing and we are very touched by your kindness. ."
RIP Thelma 8 July 1940 ‐ 27 July 2013
